Frequently asked questions:

  • When will I know my student’s teacher:  You will be able to view your student’s teacher in late August in ParentVue.   If you do not remember your ParentVue login please email svoffice@nsd.org requesting this information.
  • What is WA Kids?  WA kids is an abbreviation for Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Kids.  It is a transition meeting that helps to ensure a successful start to kindergarten.
  • WA kids is a time for you and your student to meet with your student’s teacher.  This will be a ½ hour meeting in your student’s new classroom.  You will receive more information in August about when your WA kids conference is.  Your student will not attend school any of these days (September 3rd – 5th).
  • Will my child go to school on September 6th and 9th:  Your student will only come to school one of these days.  Group A will go to school on Friday the 6th and Group B will go to school on Monday the 9th.
  • What Group is my student in:  Our groups are based on the first letter of your last name.  Group A is for last names that are between A - K  (go to school on the 6th) and group B is for last names that are between L – Z (go to school on the 9th).
  • Why do we do this staggered start?  This staggered attendance allows our teachers to get to know each student's needs and ensure that classes are balanced well. During these days, there may be classroom assignment changes as we work to create the best possible learning environment. This approach is designed to set the stage for a more successful and personalized learning experience throughout the year.

You will receive more information via email mid to late August.   Also, if you have any questions, please email svoffice@nsd.org.
