Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is essential for success in school; therefore, absences shall be excused only for necessary and important reasons. Valid excuses for absences are outlined in NSD Board Policy 3122. A Parent/Guardian should notify the school prior to the absence/tardy with a call to our attendance line or email to SVoffice@nsd.org email. The call or email must be received within 72 hours of the absence and address the date/time and reason for absence.
Northshore School District, in compliance with Board Policy and Washington State Law, requires parents/guardians to inform the school of student absences. Please report your child's absence and reason for absence at 425-408-5210 or svoffice@nsd.org. Teachers will not be able to properly document planned absences, therefore, report those absences to the office as well. The call, note or email must be received within 72 hours of the absence in order for the absence to be considered excused.
Prearranged Absence Form
If you know your student is going to be absent for more than 5 days, please download this SV Pre-Arranged Absence Form to your computer or phone, complete and sign the form, and email the signed form to SVoffice@nsd.org .
*Please note: State law requires that a student be withdrawn after 20 consecutive absences. You will need to provide “proof of residence” to reactivate your student upon their return.
